High Speed Internet, One Low Rate...FOREVER!!!

You know that nasty thing out there called inflation?? You know how you constantly have to shell out more money for gas, groceries, and other essential items, but you find it funny that your salary doesn't seem to increase at the same rate as inflation? Well, you no longer have to worry about rates increasing every month, because Charter High Speed Internet is here and it's here to stay. Soon they are having an auction where people in your area can bid for a fixed price for life. It all goes down on March 12, both the auction and your internet rate. Also, if this opportunity doesn't make you smile from ear to ear, then get ready because just for registering on their website, you can be entered into the drawing for a fully loaded Nintendo Wii. Happy Bidding!!!

Laptop Woes

Just the other day my battery in my laptop conked out AGAIN! It was so ridiculous because I had been taking proper care of my battery this time. I would let it totally die out every 4th time and never leave it plugged in longer than it needed to be. In fact earlier that day it was working perfectly on the battery, then when I tried to charge it, it just wouldn't charge. Does anybody have any idea how to better charge a laptop battery? Well, I've got a new one since then, but I'm definitely not happy with the first or second batteries. Any thoughts???

Cost Accounting!!!

I know it's not a flashy title, but take a second and let me tell you. Today I got my first test back in Cost Accounting and I received a grade of 92!!! That's right, a 92!!! I wasn't too shocked because I felt that I did really well, but compared to when I took this class last semester, it was quite a big increase. Another thing, is my mother told me that if I got an "A" on my first test in this class, then she would pay for my ticket to Six Flags Over Texas. When I talked to my mother, I started out by saying, "I'm calling to claim my Six Flags ticket..." The first "A" of many!!!

Lectureship Time!

It's time again for lectureship here at ACU. This is a big time deal for the University. Not only is it a time of spiritual growth for many people who come to town, but it is a time of fellowship and being reacquainted with old friends. It's also a time when many people give contributions to ACU. This is very true for the ACU alumni. For students though, this time is a little different. For many students, it's a way to get more chapel credits by attending the evening sessions and receiving 2 credits. It's also a time of cancelled classes, because some of the sessions during the day take place in the classrooms, which prohibits students from having class. Although this is how some people see lectureship, I really hope this year that the students will get more involved and attend the daytime sessions. I've already checked the schedule and know which ones I will be attending. If you're an ACU alum, then maybe I will see you there!!!

Friday Night Football

Last night some friends and I went to the Friday night high school football game. The team from Abilene that was playing was the Cooper Cougars. They won 10-0! Good job guys!!! Not being from Abilene, I found it kind of hard who to root for at first, but then I realized since I go to college here, why not root for the Abilene team. So I stood behind the Cougars from start to finish. There were many fumbles in the game. At one point there were 3 fumbles within 1 1/2 minutes of football. It was kind of weird, but there were plenty of awesome hits. Next weekend the Abilene team that will be playing at Shotwell Stadium is the Abilene High Eagles on Friday night and then ACU plays on Saturday. I'm excited to see the ACU game, especially since they whooped up on Texas State (a Division I team)!

My New Office!

Last night I decided to do something crazy here at the Grove. I have been thinking about doing blogging as a job while I'm in school. I finally decided last night that I would go for it, so I made an office for myself. I pushed my desk in my closet. It cracks me up thinking about how my desk is in my closet. I ran a power cord to a plug in my room and I even have wall decorations. Internet is no problem because I brought a router with me. So right now it's me, the printer, and my clothes. Just thought I would let you know that I'm going to get serious about blogging that way you will stop by more often. I will probably start a second blog as well and update everyone as soon as that happens. Happy Blogging!!!

The Grove Continued

Well, there have been some new happenings here at The Grove. They are very exciting things!!! WE GOT GRASS!!! Still not able to use the pool, still not able to use the Club House, but we definitely have GRASS! I don't think the management has their priorities straight. The other day when I pulled into the parking lot, they were draining the pool. After having it full and cleaning it for a week, they were draining it! Can you believe it? We pay all this money for all of these amenities, yet we can't use them. Isn't the Grove in breach of their contract? I've already heard that some people are considering getting out of their contract, because not until just a week ago did they have furniture in their room. This place is ridiculous!!

WILDCATS WIN!!!

Hey there all you ACU Wildcat fans! Guess what just happened today!?!?! The Wildcats won 41-3 against Southeast Oklahoma State. It was amazing!!! Touchdown after touchdown. They only way it could've been better is if the Wildcats would have gotten another touchdown. It was a great game and if you weren't there then you really missed something amazing! Plus, you should have seen how many people were tailgating before the game. We were there too, but I would be willing to bet that there were probably 20 other tailgating parties. What a great day!!! GO WILDCATS!!!

School Again, School Again

Well, I'm back at school again and I'm actually excited to be here. Don't get me wrong, I love being at home, but there's just something about having that freedom away from home that I love. Last year I messed up in one of my classes and I have to retake it because I didn't take it seriously. There's only one teacher of the class and every semester, half of the people fail that class and have to do a retake. Anyway, this year I decided that I'm going to get all A's in my classes, so get ready to read some good stories of nothing but A's!!!

The Grove Continued

I got a phone call today from The Grove and they informed me that our move-in date has been moved from August 15th to August 25th. I couldn't believe it! Everybody I know thats living therewas planning on moving-in the weekend of the 18th. Now they pushed it all back. Atleast they did do something good though. They offered either to put you in a hotel room till the move-in date or to give you a partial refund for the 10 days we can't live there. I'm not as excited about this place anymore, because it sounds like it won't even be finished by the time everyone gets there. UGH!

Back from Singapore

Dean and I are now back from Singapore!!! We are excited to be back, but we definitely miss everything about it already. It feels weird to be home now, because it feels like we should be eating chinese food for lunch and dinner and hanging out with Singaporeans, but we're not. It's crazy to think that we just got done living for eight weeks on the other side of the world. We calculated it up and realized that we have now lived 3 1/2 months in Singapore since our first trip. It's such a great experience to be on the other side of the world and see how they live. I wish I could combine both of my worlds...here and there.

The Grove

This year at school I will be living in a new apartment complex called "The Grove". I'm really excited about living there because it's brand new and really close to school. I'm living with a guy that lived in the same dorm as me last year and we're going potluck on the third person for our apartment. This apartment is supposed to have energy efficient appliances and will be fully furnished. The rent includes almost everything. The only way to go over on rent is if you go over your electricity allowance. I can't wait to move into this place!!!

Singapore News

Today Dean and I finished writing our letter asking for extra funds and coming up with our budget for the trip. We have been trying to figure out this part for a LONG time now. We are asking for $340 in hopes that that will be enough. Right now we have some funds from the Singapore church which covers our food and travel expenses. Also we have money from the missionary Shelly which will cover some of our other expenses such as youth outreach and various things like fixing up the bicycles and stuff. Hopefully we will get more than we are asking for and the elders will give us some extra money so that we won't run out. We are planning on giving the letter to one of the elders in the morning and hopefully they will read it very very soon to the congregation. We also took our photos for our visas today. Dean tried to call the Chinese Consulate and ask some questions about the visas, but we didn't get much help from the woman that answered the phone. I guess that's ok though since they are closed till monday anyway. So we still need our visas, our tickets, and some money, but those things seem to all be working themselves out.

More Fun in Singapore Part 2

Last night Dean and I talked to the missionary in Singapore through the program Skype for about 25 minutes. We had some laughs, but we also started to figure out our dates for departure and arrival. We figure we will probably leave sometime mid-May and return sometime in early July. That puts us in Shanghai/Singapore for about 6 to 7 weeks. That should be enough time for us to accomplish the things that need to be done there.

Wild Hogs

This is a VERY funny movie. If you have some time one weekend you should definitely go see this movie. I saw it three times within a week!!! The four guys in this movie are perfect together. It's about these four guys that go on a road trip on their motorcycles but run into a little bit of trouble when one of them blows up the Del Fuegos bar (a REAL biker gang). They then proceed to fight off the gang from the little town of Madrid and they become heros.

Thin Mints

It is Girl Scout Cookie time and I'm excited!!! In my opinion Thin Mints are the best. The chocolatey, minty goodness is amazing! The only problem is that one box costing a whopping $3.50 doesn't last long enough. I guess the only thing to do is give in and pay it.
